Bon Jour! It has been sometime since my last blog entry. Well, well, where to get you caught up??? Let me share my weekend of Irish Heritage Adventure...
Donahue's To Dublin quickly became the theme for a St. Patrick's Day Visit to one of the motherlands, no disrepect to my English/Polish/Ukrainain blood! In celebration of my little sister's, 30th Birthday, yes you did hear correct (sorry sis....it is about time you joined the club), we decided to celebrate over some mash/guiness/green cupcakes!
We met up on Friday night in Dublin and apparently other teachers from ISB had the same idea as there were a group of 13 of us total. We became settled into our hotel on Friday night and explored the area around us near OĆonnel Street Bridge. It was already alive and kicking and Friday night and if that wasn't a sign of what was to come ;)
Saturday we spent the day walking part of the city of Dublin and made our way for lunch at this pub, but it was a special kind of pub. We were seated at a table where you pour your own beverages with a beverage tap at the table for you and you are reponsible for pouring your own! They give you a quick "how to" and you are left alone after that! Next, we were after a change of venue and were after the perfect location for an all important 6 Nations Rugby Match between Scotland and Ireland. Saying that sounds like... big deal, 6 nations what?? It is essentially the Super Bowl of Rugby for Europe and Ireland has not won in this fashion in 61 years and had two games left against Scotland and Wales. They were in 1st place and needed the win to secure the hopes of the Championship the following weekend.

Let me get to the point, we found a place to watch the game amongst Scottish Men in kilts, Screaming Irish Fans, and a chicken and a banana which is a story for another day! The emerald isle came out on top and the pub and city were blissfully singing the rest of the night.
Sunday involved a day trip to the coast, Howth. We set off on the train and ended up having a superb day of sun and temperature. Our first encounter was a brilliant market where cupcakes were for sale. I told Carisa we needed to hold off until later and she agreed. Well, later (4 hours) we came back to an empty table of cupcakes and should have the seized the opportunity before! See the first picture, darn it!
We did end up with a lunch of fish and chips so I can't be too bitter! We followed some small crowds that led us to a hiking trail. In route, we saw this carefully maintained lawn that was the property of this castle-like house on the cliff. When we appraoched, we found out the name of the house! (Picture #2!) We then took the trail around a small peninsula and found paradise! Daffadoils covered the mountain side, water below, rocky cliffs, it was all so very real in front of us..... this was my favorite part of the trip.

We ended the day with a small venue concert and while walking home, we stumbled upon the first sighting of a Donahue-esq name! Guess it will due :)
We had a grand time, I hope it was birthday for Carisa to remember!
